You all became part of the Getsafe mission at different points in time. How’d it happen?

Alina: I joined in January 2022, making me one of the first-ever sales team members at Getsafe. I discovered the job opening on Instagram and everything went very quickly – now I've been here for over a year and I'm super happy with the decision.

Ante: I’d like to mention that Alina started as a sales agent, but she grew really quickly in her role and moved up to senior agent and is now a team lead. Amazing achievement. As for me, I started at Getsafe one year ago, in March 2022. I saw an awesome opportunity here to build something from the ground up.

Hakan: I've only been with the company since September – although that's also half a year now and it definitely doesn’t feel that way (laughs). I was a trainee before that, and didn't want to stay with my old employer – Getsafe was my first application. When I met Ante, it was an immediate fit.

The entire sales department has done a 180 in the last year – starting with the onboarding journey. What development can you see here?

Alina: When I started, I was working completely at home because of the pandemic. At that time, the motto was: Little training, lots of initiative. I basically got documents in Google Drive and was told to look through that and make my own notes. I had a lot of coffee dates, so I basically got to know the whole company in the first two weeks. And then I was already working on my first tickets – it was a completely different ticket system back then (laughs).

Hakan: Yes, it was very different for me (laughs). Everything was prepared and planned out, all the appointments were already in the calendar. It was set up nicely, though, so not everything was happening at once, and with enough breaks so that you could process what you had learned. And we were assigned a coach with whom we met twice a week to exchange ideas and ask for help if needed. I still talk to Daniel quite regularly!

Ante: Yes, we've really come a long way. With Alina, it felt like there was no onboarding yet and when I started, it was also quite funny: Philip, our VP, was on vacation and I, who had to be onboarded myself, then led the onboarding (laughs). Today, onboarding takes place on site within the first two weeks. There, the Getsafe culture is introduced, but also specifically the way of working and expectations in the sales team. In other words, we always try to explain what we actually do here and where we come from – so that everyone understands what has actually happened in the last year and why we do the things we do. Then everyone also gets a technical introduction to the tools. And last but not least, we obviously talk about insurance. That all happens in the first week. In the second week, we get down to how things work at the company.

What have been your highlights at Getsafe so far?

Alina: My highlight was definitely last December, when we achieved all our goals together as a team. And of course, when I got the promotion to team lead – that was a great month.

Hakan: I enjoyed the Christmas party a lot, it was super fun and the team spirit was amazing.

Ante: I can't decide. I thought the summer party was great, but also the events along the way. There's always a great atmosphere and teamwork going on – everyone goes full throttle. If someone had told me at the beginning that it would go so well... phew (laughs)! But also with the team. We kind of started with four people a year ago, and then built a real team. Yes, we have a performance culture, but also a feedback culture. Help is always available.

There was another recent highlight: The Sales Hackathon! What was that all about?

Alina: The hackathon went on for a week. Of course, the goal was for all sales agents as well as consultants to work together. The mutual exchange was super important and there were also different workshops. It was all about motivation and just getting everyone together.

Ante: We had a visit from Swiss Life and went to dinner together at the end of the day. I also held workshops on retirement planning and private health insurance.

Alina: I took away a lot of useful things from those!

Ante: I hope so (laughs).

Hakan: One workshop was about selling Thermomixes, I thought that was cool. Only when you deal with something completely different do you recognize the similarities and patterns. That it's about empathy and understanding the other person. I also found the Swiss Life training really interesting.

Ante: In general, however, we train on the best products on the market on a regular basis – so that everyone is definitely in the know and can pass that on to the customers. Insurance is an essential topic and I’m convinced that you can't educate someone else on something if you’re not behind it 100%.

If you had to describe the sales team with 3 hashtags each, which would you choose?

Hakan: I would say #power, #boost and #growth.

Ante: #oneteam - I think it's especially important, just because it's two different areas in sales and we see ourselves as one big team. Then #fullthrottle – everyone always gives everything to achieve team goals. And thirdly: #fun.

Alina: #goodtime, #120percent, #getsafe2040 – our big goal.
